Subwavelength focusing by engineered power-flow conformal metamirrors

چکیده
It is highly desirable to break the diffraction limit on resolution of optical devices and achieve subwavelength focusing. Here, authors show that curved inhomogeneous reflectors offer a practical method for achieving this goal. The surface profile focusing reflector designed be tangential desired power flow so metamirror can described locally by lossless impedance boundaries easily implemented using simple meta-atoms. We envisage some applications become possible method.

Negative refraction, subwavelength focusing and beam formation by photonic crystals
We present a review of our experimental and numerical studies on the negative refraction related phenomena in two-dimensional dielectric photonic crystals (PCs). By employing photonic bands with appropriate dispersion, the propagation of the electromagnetic wave through a PC can be controlled to a large extent, and diverse and completely novel electromagnetic phenomena can be generated. We perf...

Although negative-refractive-index metamaterials have successfully achieved subwavelength focusing, image resolution is limited by the presence of losses. In this Letter, a metal transmission screen with subwavelength spaced slots is proposed that focuses the near-field beyond the diffraction limit and, furthermore, is easily scaled from microwave frequencies to the optical regime. An analytica...

We have proposed, designed, manufactured and tested low loss dielectric micro-lenses for infrared (IR) radiation based on a dielectric metamaterial layer. This metamaterial layer was created by patterning a dielectric surface and etching to sub-micron depths. For a proof-of-concept lens demonstration, we have chosen a fine patterned array of nano-pillars with variable diameters. Gradient index ...
